The massive stone structure was built by up to 20,000 enslaved workers between 1805 and 1820 as part of a system of fortifications designed to keep the newly-independent nation of Haiti safe from French incursions. Things in Haiti are becoming very bad. There is an outrage going on right now where people are participating in horrible crimes against everyone else, and it is ruining the environment and ultimately making the beautiful side of Haiti into an overall rough country. People are burning down buildings, cars, and the tires from the cars that are burned become infested into the airways and pollute the air passageways more than ever, ruining the beauty of Haiti itself. Something needs to be done to prevent this, and something needs to be done fast.
